Jen Kliewer, FDNP Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner
about

Hi, I'm Jen

I'm a functional health practitioner based in New Jersey, available to work with clients locally and across the country.
How I got here
I grew up with little understanding of what it meant to take care of my health, and saw some results of that in adulthood — including the loss of my gallbladder. Still, I remained unaware of what I could have done to contribute to that, or what I could do to improve things going forward.

Several years ago, the cancer diagnosis of a loved one led me to seriously consider health issues for the first time. I threw myself into researching things I felt weren't being fully addressed — the nutrients, the systems, the underlying issues. What I learned and saw changed me, and I fell in love with the beautiful, simple, transforming power of functional health.
How I think
The body has innate capacity to heal, and a natural pull toward a state where its systems are in balance and properly functioning. There are general things every body needs for that to happen. And there are data-driven ways to learn what any individual body is telling us about its own current, uniquely specific needs.

I studied biomedical engineering at Duke, and eventually settled into computer systems analysis and programming. Different work, same instinct: understand the system, find the pattern, keep working the problem until it makes sense. It turns out that's good preparation for asking why a body isn't doing what it's supposed to.

A pattern-finder by nature, I bring that same mindset to functional health: thoughtful, thorough, and rigorously determined to uncover and address the things that undermine the working balance of the body's systems. I don't diagnose or treat disease — any work I do is designed to complement medical care, not replace it.
Why I do this
I love people. I know the struggles I've had, and still have, and my desire is to use whatever gifts I've been given to walk alongside those the Lord puts in my life, whatever journey they're on. I have an especially soft heart toward those struggling with cancer, and I'm pursuing further training so I can be useful on that road.

My faith in Christ is the core of who I am, and it's the reason any of this matters to me.

I also really miss my gallbladder, and I'd love to help you keep yours, if applicable.

If you're considering working together...

I'd like to hear what's going on with you.
