Getting Started
Conventional labs are built to identify disease. Functional testing looks at how your body is operating before it gets there — metabolism and mineral balance, digestion, hormone patterns, stress response. Not a diagnosis. A map of what's working and what isn't.
If something's been off for a while and you want to understand why, this is built for you. That includes people whose labs came back normal, people who've never had the right testing done, and people who have a diagnosis but want to know what's driving it. It's not the right fit if you're looking for a diagnosis, or if you have new or worsening symptoms a doctor hasn't looked at yet — that comes first.
Many people who come to a site like this feel that way. The difference is method — structured testing and pattern analysis versus trial and error — removing the guesswork.
There are general things every body needs for proper function and balance, and we will address those things in your program. Each body also has specific needs based on what has been happening in that body, and how it has impacted everything else. Targeted testing and correlation with your health story removes the guesswork and helps us learn what your individual body is telling us about its own uniquely specific needs at this moment in time, and to make a plan that is right for you.
I take a small number of program clients at a time. I read every application myself, usually within a few business days. If I think I can help and have the current capacity to do so, I'll send an enrollment link and we'll book your getting started call. If I don't have the capacity at the moment, I'll ask if you would like to be added to a waitlist. If I don't think I'm the right fit, I'll tell you that too, and point you somewhere better.
Tell me what you have and roughly when the testing took place — that's usually enough for me to say whether it could stand in for a panel in your program. I'll go through the results properly once we're working together; before that, just knowing what exists helps me plan what you actually need.
How It Works
Almost. Your kits ship to your door and everything else happens by video or through your portal. The one exception is bloodwork, which needs a quick visit to a local draw site — I'll send the requisition. I'm able to work with clients across the US; a few panels take an extra step in NY, NJ, and RI.
Yes, built from your test results correlated with your intake (lifestyle and medical history, symptoms, primary concerns, and preferences) — not a template. Depending on what I find, your plan may include nutrition changes, lifestyle and sleep adjustments, and targeted supplementation, sequenced so you're not doing everything at once.
You'll have a way to ask them. The frequency and means of communication depend on what is included in your program. This will be clearly documented in your enrollment agreement before you start, in order to set expectations.
A few states — including New York, New Jersey (where I'm based), and Rhode Island — have added restrictions on how certain lab testing is ordered. It makes the logistics more involved, not impossible. We'll find the route that gets you what you need within your state's rules.
Results & Expectations
The goal of our work together is ultimately improved function and balance for all of your body's systems, as imbalance in one system can have downstream effects on every system. Outcomes vary, but the improvements functional health clients report most often are in energy, digestion, sleep, mood, and overall resilience.
Some things will likely shift in the first few weeks — usually energy and sleep, once blood sugar and minerals start to move. The deeper work takes longer, which is why programs run three to six months rather than a few sessions. A lot depends on what's already happening in your body, as well as the changes you are able to make and sustain. This is not a "quick-fix" program — but meaningful changes over time can have substantial impact.
Medical & Safety
No. As a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner, I don't diagnose, treat, or cure disease. My work is assessing function, identifying imbalances, and supporting the body through nutrition, lifestyle, and targeted supplementation.
No. As an FDNP, I don't diagnose, treat or cure disease, and my work is meant to sit alongside your medical care, not replace it.
Your doctor and/or specialists look for disease, as they should — but "no disease found" and "everything is working well" aren't the same finding. I'm looking for patterns across your systems, and the imbalances those patterns point to. Those are opportunities for healing, not diagnoses. If something in your results belongs with a physician, I'll tell you.
Yes — most clients do. If you're under a physician's care or taking medication, talk with them before making changes, particularly with supplements, which can interact with prescriptions.
Investment & Payment
Supplements are not included with any program or test. Price varies depending on your protocol and what you are ready to invest. I build in consideration of your budget — tell me what's realistic and I'll do my very best to work inside it. You'll have practitioner pricing through my dispensary if you choose to purchase your supplements through Fullscript.
No, and I don't bill insurance. Some clients submit receipts towards HSA or FSA for reimbursement — whether that will work for you depends on your insurance plan, so be sure to contact your administrator if you have questions. I provide itemized receipts for every test.
Payment is due in full at enrollment, but financing is available at checkout through a third-party provider — you'd apply during checkout and pay them in installments. Terms and approval are theirs, and they'll show you everything before you commit.
